During the fall, Friday night football games are the highlight of many peoples week. It’s hard to go to a football game and not hear the name “Chris George.” The senior captain is the runningback for the varsity team and an obvious stand-out.

George is looking to continue his football career in college, but the question is, where? He has offers from Worcester Poly Tech and Colby College. Deciding where to go to college is hard enough, but George has to take his football career into consideration. “The deciding factors are about how much playing time I could get on a team, the academics, and how good the school is. But the biggest deciding factor is the amount of financial aid each school gives,” said George. Worcester Poly Tech and Colby College are both great schools with impressive football teams.

When schools come to you and ask you to play for them, you could only imagine how over-whelming the recruiting process is. “ The recruiting process was a little stressful,” said George, “There are a lot of different things to consider about a school and the football program there. But it was also fun because I got to go and visit the different schools and meet with the coaches and players.”

George has to make this tough decision by May 1. “For Division III schools, because there is no signing day like division I and II, I make my decision when I turn in my deposit slip on May 1.”

The past four years of football at NKHS have been very influential on George and have prepared him to play in college. “NK football has prepared me to play in college because of the great coaching staff.  Coach Gilmartin and the other coaches run such a good football program here that they have given me the chance to play my best and get noticed at the next level,” said George, “Also, the way our coaches run the team is well organized, which is what it will be like in college.”
