Skips Spring Into Action

March Madness is almost over. The fans in the stands, the marching bands, the mascots, and the pageantry on the hardwood are in the past. Think SPRING! Spring break is just a few short weeks away. Studies have shown that just thinking about a beautiful place we’ve seen or imagined can lower stress levels. People need to be reminded that they’re doing the best they can each day. What is your favorite flower, smell, sight, event, vacation memory, walking path, song, book, or baseball team? Recently, I posed a question to my 12th-grade advisory for one of our group discussions. When the fog doesn’t seem to lift before you capsize from the winter, what can you do to correct the course? Cole Risebrow shared that during Spring Break he looks forward to “beachwear, sleeping in, and blasting music with the car windows down.” Quincy Rome, a captain of our NK Baseball Team this season, can tell that spring is here “when the birds are chirping and we are listening to country music while taking BP (batting practice).” The conversation organically developed into making a list titled “My 10 Favorites of Spring.” Another student-athlete from my legendary advisory, Jake Rodger, added to the list “Sunny days and tan lines.” Overall, there was a consensus that the upcoming season has events like prom, senior assassins, and graduation, which certainly are at the top of our list. I hope our favorites and your own will inspire you and remind you of joyful times in your life. Whatever they are, enjoy the memories, or create your list and store it away for the days when there is no blue sky to steer toward. Be OK, NK, and Roll Skips!
