Spotlight on senior projects
It’s a very special time for all Seniors in North Kingstown High School. That’s right, it’s Senior Project season! Seniors in the school are spending time to figure out there senior project and how to finish it. Whether it be making a product, conducting a service, or hosting an event, everyone is working hard to make the May 19th deadline.
A senior project is a culminating project that challenges high school seniors to demonstrate their academic knowledge in an experiential way. They are given a series of 4 options for their project; hosting an event, creating a product, providing a service, or making a more efficient plan for something.
Surfs up! Senior, Zack Queralla plans on hosting a surf clinic. He has been surfing since middle school and fully believes its his life passion. Quarella said, “I love surfing. It’s an amazing feeling and I just want to sure it with as many people as I can. Not many people get to experience the feeling it gives you and I want to expand that feeling to others.” That being said, Queralla’s senior project will be hosting an event in which he is able to share his love for the sport to other people. His surf clinic will take place on May 2.
Senior, Kate Thomas is planning on making a cook book for her senior project focusing on foods of all kind. Thomas recently has been interested in cooking, food and nutrition. Thomas said, “I’m really excited for it. Cooking has really affected me in the past year!” Thus, she decided to make a cookbook for her senior project because the idea interests her and she wants to show other people how to eat healthy, delicious food.
