For crafty people, artisans, decorators, and people who are trying to save money alike, D.I.Y.’s are an underrated hobby. Just about anything can be created for less money and more fun than buying things in a store.

Anybody can do these projects. Not only will you save money, but the knowledge, new skills, and satisfaction you gain from completing a project is worth more than anything you can buy from a store. Junior Alicia Southland said, “ D.I.Y.’s are a cheap and creative way to show your personal style, while keeping your budget low. Having a new project to work on can give you something to do, and keep you occupied. There are thousands of D.I.Y.S out there, from easy to complex, and for all occasions. You’ll be sure to find something that you can’t wait to work on!”

Especially with Valentine’s Day approaching, it is now the perfect opportunity to make Do-It-Yourself gifts. They can be the simplest projects, from filling a mason jar with candy, to customizing coffee mugs and making your own candles. DIY’s are the ultimate way to personalize and save tons of money.

If you’re looking to get creative, save some money, re-do a room, give a gift, or revamp old clothing, take a look at the endless DIY projects out there, and find the right one for you.

DIY Bath Bombs

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 3/4 cup Corn Starch
  • 1/4 cup Sea Salt/ Epsom Salt/ Himalayan Salt
  • 1 cup Citric Acid (aka Lemon Salt)
  • 10 drops Food Coloring – you can also use Beet Juice for pink color like I did or Carrot Juice for yellowish
  • A few drops of Essential Oil of your choice
  • Spray bottle for spraying food coloring
  • Molds of your choice

Instructions:

Stir all the dry ingredients together. Combine food coloring with a little bit of water in a spray bottle and spritz your dry mixture – but do it just slightly, because, if you add too much water, your mixture can fizz away and your bombs will not be “exploding.” Then add a few drops of essential oil and mix everything together until the color is even and consistent. Press the mixture into the molds of your choice and let dry overnight. Pop the bombs out in the morning, and in the evening they’ll be waiting for you to take a bath!
