Basketball team gets a new rhythm
Twenty NK girls crowded the auditorium Oct. 22 anxiously waiting in front of a panel. The tryout consisted of a 24 count combo on the spot performance in front of a panel.
There are now eight girls on the NK dance team; two freshmen, one junior, and five seniors. The dance team is a hip hop team started by junior Katie Mancieri and co-captain senior Samantha Jordan with the help of Ms. Tavano. The team will be performing during halftime at a select few home boys varsity basketball games, and their season depends on the basketball season.
Practices have already started, and the team awaits their first performance in January. However, the practices are open to girls who wish to be reviewed. They will have the opportunity to be placed on the team, depending on their skill level.
“Girls should join because dancers are not usually recognized at school and this is an opportunity to show your talent to the school,” says co-captain Katie Mancieri. “Plus, it’s really fun and all the girls on the team are super nice.”
