Showering in thought

Nick Floody, Staff Writer

Shower thoughts are as simple as the name, thoughts you get in the shower. According to a study done by the Washington Post, where a group of writers, artists, and filmmakers wrote down what they were doing when they had some of their most creative ideas, 20 percent of the time their most creative ideas occurred while taking a shower.

When talking to NKHS senior Charles Wight he stated some of his shower thoughts are, “If your shirt isn’t tucked into your pants then your pants are tucked into your shirt.” I was able to speak to some students during lunch to help get a perspective of some of the shower thoughts going on in North Kingstown. Some of the shower thoughts of North Kingstown students are:

  • “What came first, the fruit orange or the color?”
  • “There are sidewalks in the movie ‘Cars,’ but everyone is a car.”
  • “Maybe plants are really farming us for carbon.”
  • “Aliens invaded the moon on July 20, 1969.”
  • “I’ve woken up over 10,000 times and I”m still not used to it.”
  • “Reading DO NOT TOUCH in Braille is probably really scary.”
  • “You might think you’re ugly, but actually you’re just not your type.”

Some students’ shower thoughts varied from just random thoughts to business ideas too. Some of the aspiring entrepreneurs of NK said:

  • “What if adblock bought out a bunch of different ads in Times Square, and just replaced them by saying, ‘This ad was blocked by adblocker.’”
  •  “Gyms should lower your price of membership based on how much you go.”
  • “They should make an umbrella drone to follow you around when it’s raining.”

Shower thoughts are a cool phenomenon, and help bring creativity to people in different ways, with some of NKHS’ own students having some of the most creative shower thoughts.
