Seniors anticipate their bittersweet finale
May 31, 2016
Four years ago, the class of 2016 walked into the doors of this huge school, ready for a fresh start and nervously running through the halls, avoiding senior row. Now these students walk into class late, eat lunch on senior row, and are ready to say their goodbyes to NK. As the graduation date approaches students have mixed emotions on leaving this school, and their memories, behind.
Senior Lexi Brayman said “I’m excited to start my new life in college and meet new people, but I will miss a lot of people here.” Brayman is attending the University of Rhode Island this upcoming fall, and said that luckily a lot of her friends are going there as well, so she won’t be completely alone when embracing this new experience. “It’s sad to think about the people I will not see everyday, but I definitely think change is needed.” Brayman said. “High school flies by so underclassmen, please cherish it.”
Eric Rosdahl also a senior, explains that he has been with some of his friends now since kindergarden. “It has been a fun experience going through high school with my friends and making new friends along the way.” Rosdahl said. “It’s weird to think that I will be going into another school without any of them, I’ll definitely miss them.” Rosdahl is going to University of South Carolina and only knows one other student that is going there from NK. “It will be a fun new experience for me and I know I’ll meet some great people, but I won’t make any friends like the ones I have back here.”
Jake McBrier, a junior, said that its going to be sad to see his senior friends go. “I’m going to miss the morning grind and rushing to school, and rushing to lacrosse practice everyday.” McBrier said. He also says that most of his friends are seniors so he’s going to be sad next year when he can’t see them every day. He also states, “Its going to be hard not seeing everyone in the halls anymore, my senior year will be one of my most difficult years,” he said.
No doubt the seniors are ready to move forward, but they will be missed by many friends, as well as they will miss their underclassmen friends. Hopefully NKHS has taught them what they need to strive throughout college, and be successful in life. On behalf of all the seniors graduating we wish you all luck next year and goodbye NK!
