New Science Teacher Joins NKHS

With a new school year comes new teachers, including Mrs. Tripp, who joins the North Kingstown High School Science Department.

Mrs.Tripp is a native-born Rhode Islander, who grew up in Westerly and currently lives in Narragansett. Growing up, she always had an interest in science but originally was going to pursue dental work. “When I was working on my dental applications,” she said, “I worked in Boston University’s Section of Infectious Diseases, where I worked in a lab that researched Porphyromonas gingivalis (which is the bacteria that causes gingivitis)”.

Mrs.Tripp currently teaches Human Anatomy & Physiology and Earth & Physical Science. She got her bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Endicott College in Beverly, Mass and her teaching certification from Providence College. Her favorite thing to teach about is the immune system after her previous work with infectious diseases.

Last spring semester, Mrs.Tripp was a long-term substitute teacher. She is enthusiastic about starting her first year of full-time teaching and sharing her love of science with her students.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs.Tripp keeps herself busy. She plays in a soccer league with her husband at Wide World of Indoor Sports, participates in beach volleyball in the summer, bookkeeps, and plays with her two-year-old niece. While not only playing sports now, she participated in basketball and soccer when she was younger, “despite her height”.

“I’m excited to be here, and I’m excited to get to know everyone especially as circumstances are somewhat returning to normal and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone”
